Brand New - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By stanhan - March 6 - 10:00 amJust bought this van yesterday and am really impressed with it. After driving imports it surprised me how much thought was put into the interior features of the car. It has a lot to offer for the money. They try to make use of every bit of the car for storage and convenience items. The car has so many features it is sometimes unintuitive to control things on the instrument panel. Im sure that has a lot to do with the fact that I just bought it. From what I can tell I got a screaming good deal and I highly recommend my dealer. They were extremely nice and low pressure but provided me an "EBay" price over the phone. The car was delivered to my door.

Yes, I read the other reviews, but this van wont die! - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By paulsnj - November 17 - 1:36 pmI bought this van certified used in Jan of 2008 with 47,000 miles on the clock after my lovely 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Limited was wrecked parked in front of my house. So I gained Stow N Go and Sirius radio in the dash but lost my leather seats and pimped out factory chrome spoke wheels. That being said, the trans had to be rebuilt and/or worked on three times the first two years, all under certified warranty and all I had to pay was one $100 copay. Since then, no issues at all except for a left power sliding door that works off and on, and a front end that badly needs a complete rebuild. I am on the original timing belt, shocks, and struts and just turned 175,000 miles.

Satified so far - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Yeoman Chief - October 17 - 7:03 amI have had the vehicle for about a month. We really love the van. Roomy interior. Stow-n-go is very helpful with twin boys. Ride is comparable to some sedans that I have driven. I did have to take to the shop to get the emergency brake line connected. It was never connected at the plant. Also I have noticed some of the areas behind the panels and door jams do not have the same level of paint as on the exterior of the van. Overall I am pleased with the vehicle. Hopefully no other items will come up.

Nice features, but engine and tranny bad - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Brian - July 8 - 7:46 pmThe visible parts of the car are great. The body is good, the interior fit and finish is good, the "Stow n Go" is great, the engine is plenty powerful. I like the car for its features. Mechanically, I am extremely disappointed. There is a constant rubbing sound coming out of the front- left upper strut mount over even little bumps, the engine uses about 3.5 quarts of oil between oil changes (3000 miles), the transmission clunks (and the car jumps) when down-shifting when you take your foot off the gas. I have reported these issues numerous times, but the "factory rep" keeps telling me that they are within design specs and wont fix it. Give me a break! No more Dodges for me!

Poor MPG - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan

my van - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By cochlas - December 22 - 1:16 pmI bought this van with plans to drive kiddos and cousins around and it has been great! I really love all the driver seat adjustments because I have short legs. I have driven on long vacations with my parents and my two kids adn everyone seemed comfortable enough. I LOVE the Fold-and-Go seats. that is the main reason I bought this van. They have come in handy when I dont have a truck and It has proven great for camping. Just throw in a full size blowup mattress and throw mosquito netting over the open trunk and "presto!". It has had problems with the Rack and Pinion and struts. I hhad them replaced under warranty after owning the vehicle for 2 years.

Good value, not best van out there - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By DonnaH - June 15 - 9:50 pmWe have just about 4K miles on the van. Rides very nice. Interior is versatile, hauled a full size couch using Stow and Go which is cool. The compartments in the floor are handy storage when the seats are up. The leather seating is firm and driver/passenger seats are not comfortable compared to Honda. The Stow and Go seats are surprisingly comfortable even for an adult considering the compact size. Have had a few minor problems with trim coming off after only 2 months. Front bumper cracked, how, I dont know, no marks. The dealer said too bad, no warranty, $750 repair. I would have bought the Odyssey, but Dodge came in $5K less plus 0% financing for 5 years. Overall, a decent value. You get what you pay for.

Better than the base model - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By jkm - March 25 - 6:43 amI had a Caravan 98, destoyed in a crash. So i went shopping and ended up the 2005 Grand, when I compared the "new " base van to my old 98, the 98 was less tinny and a better drive. have had this three days, feels solid and strong, think I am going to miss my old van less. best new feature? The redesigned cup holder that does not drop coffee cup, and air vents in the back for the dogs.new sound system is also great. My old van purred, but this one is even quieter! I bougth it with 30,000 miles and only a few months left on the warrenty, $15000 plus fees. think i did good

Happy so far - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By ikarus - February 26 - 10:00 amReplaced my 1999 Montana ostensibly since I couldnt wait for GMs new model minivans. (always have been a GM family.) In addition, GMs minivans while adding a "nose" to their 2005 models did not offer anything new in the seat "stowage" area. The Grand Caravan SXT is undoubtedly a larger car in all respects than GM offerings. Only have had the car two weeks but satisfied with ride and engine (3.8)so far. It will take a little mileage under its belt to fairly evaluate the car but so far so good. Ill let you know later as we drive 4000K back and forth annually to AZ as to comfort and gas mileage. Happy so far.

OK, but Issues - 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan
By nfonnesb - January 24 - 5:30 pmWe didnt have any problems with this van for the first 45K miles, but then the transmission seized up and had to be replaced (70K mile warranty covered all but $100, but was gone for a week with no backup which was tough). Some of the electrical features work intermittently, windows stopped working, back lift gate latch doesnt work (have to use key to open each time), engine light is on and off. Even so, it gets good gas mileage and is comfortable and safe to ride in. The DVD is a life saver with 4 young kids and long trips. The stow and go seats are great and we have used this many times, all seats lie flat so it is a like a covered long bed truck if needed.
